Locksmith Bristol

We are the Locksmith in Bristol

We have all the latest tools and stay up to date with all the latest training to make sure we are the best locksmith in Bristol. I personally love to pick mortice locks getting my best success using the multi gauge pick designed by Chris Belcher, one of the prominent figures in the locksmithBristol world, His wife as I understand was born in Norfolk so Chris apparently has a soft spot for locksmith in Bristol. My Favourite lock to pick is the ERA Fortress, some locksmith in Bristol fear this lock but once you understand the lock picking it becomes fairly simple. A locksmith in Kings Lynn told me the best way was to take a reading from the belly of the lever by turning your pick wire as if you were going to lock the mortice lock and that if it turns to a certain angle then its a high lift and anything else is a low lift. This seemed to work really well for him, however I wasn't getting so much success using this technique. Being an investigative locksmith in Bristol I decide to take the lock apart to study the lever pack. What I found after taking numerous locks apart was something that I thought would make it very easy to pick. Unfortunately this wasn't the case but I persevered and eventually developed a technique that works more than it doesn't. So now whenever I come across a lock that I struggle to pick I just go to my wholesale supplier and get them to send a load of that type of lock to this locksmith in Bristol, take them apart and study the lever packs to see if I can find something which will aid me in my attempts to pick future locks.

Thornhill Security The Locksmith In Bristol

Locksmith Bristol
As a Warrant Locksmith in Bristol it is very important that we are able to pick locks rather than drill them for lots of reasons. Mainly so it avoids any confrontation with an upset person who has had a meter fitted to their property without their consent but also because it is quicker ( usually ) and there is no confusion as to whether the locks security has been compromised. Other locksmith in Norwich either don't take the pride in their work or simply just don't care whether they are able to pick these locks or not. Well this locksmith in Norwich takes it personally if I can't pick the lock! Should a locksmith in Bristol be able to pick locks? Well this locksmith in Bristol thinks so. So if you ever get locked out and the locksmith in Bristol who turns up jumps out of his van with a drill in his hand, tell him to get back in his van and call for us, the best locksmith in Norwich.

10 Minute Safe Opening In Norwich

The customer a well known acountancy firm in Norwich, were looking to move premises but had lost the key to their safe. They called a safe opening Norwich locksmith who quoted them a lot of money without even identifying the safe. They also had the dilema of what to do with the safe which was no longer required. They asked the safe opening locksmith to go ahead and open the unit but he never turned up. They just happened to see one of our vans on the Prince of Wales Road and decided to give us a try. We attended site within two hours of the original call to identify the unit and give a quoted price. The next day the customer called us back and asked us to proceed with the safe opening in Norwich and how quickly could we attend. We recieved the call at 9.30am and arrived on site at 12.25.

Safe Opening In Norwich
So I unloaded my tools and lock pick from the van, RB Locktools 7 guage two in one pick and proceeded to the safe. The safe had a seven lever lock fitted with false notches to give protection against lock picking. Before I started the safe opening in Norwich I removed the escutcheon cover from the safe so it didn't hinder my lock picking. I put my pick into the lock and moved through the lever pack to see what kind of feel I would get. I immedialtley got caught caught on the false notches. I backed of the tension and raked through the lever pack again the same thing happened again. With really light tension I tried once more and started to get a bit of feeling from the lock, I felt the bolt of the lock jump back a bit and could feel which levers were picked and which were caught in the false notches. I jumped the three levers which were on false notches and the safe opening in Norwich was complete. The two ladies who had been watching me were very impressed and wanted to split the proceeds of the contents of the safe with me. Unfortunately as with many safe opening in Norwich it was empty. It always creates a bit of a buzz when you open a safe and before I knew it I think the whole staff had been down into the basment to see the opened safe. It wasn't long before the owner came down. He was very impressed and we know who he will call first next when he needs a safe opening in Norwich.

Locksmith In Norwich Combination Locks

Combination Locks, Locksmith Norwich

Combination locks have been in use for over 100 years and in countries such as America, they are the most common safe lock in use. The British and European markets have always favoured the traditional keylocks, but with the advent of electronic locks, this trend has begun to change in recent years. (You can find out more regarding electronic locks by clicking on the relevant sub menu).

An introduction to using combination locks by a Locksmith in Norwich

These instructions have been put together from experience by our locksmith in Norwich and are general guidelines only.  It is ALWAYS recommended that ANY changes made to codes, either electronic or mechanical, are done with the door of the safe or container OPEN and preferably in the earlier part of the day to ensure that a locksmith in Norwich can be sought if necessary.
Locksmith In Norwich
Please read the instructions carefully before operating the lock or proceding with changing the combination.

There are two marks on the dial ring (see drawing). The mark at the top (the opening index) is used for opening the lock. The index 30° to the left is used only when changing the combination. The dial should always be turned slowly and evenly. A Revolution is counted each time the selected number is aligned with the opening index.
Do not turn the dial back to compensate for overdialing a number. If, when dialling the combination, any number is turned beyond the opening index, the entire sequence must be repeated from the start. If you have any problems opening or changing your combination call a locksmith in Norwich immediatley.

3 Wheel combination locks

Opening the 3 wheel combination lock. These 3 wheel locks are made by a number of manufacturers and common factory settings are
50-25-50
10-20-30

To unlock on a 3 number combination (For Example 50-25-50)
1. Turn dial to the LEFT stopping when 50 is aligned with the opening index, the FOURTH time.
2. Turn the dial to the RIGHT stopping when 25 is aligned with the opening index, the THIRD time.
3. Turn the dial to the LEFT stopping when 50 is aligned with the opening index, the SECOND time.
4. Turn the dial slowly to the RIGHT until the bolt retracts.
To lockTurn dial to the LEFT at least four full revolutions.

PT Lock & Safe, Locksmith In Norwich That Change Combinations

Setting a 3 wheel combination lock
WARNING: Never remove the lock case cover or attempt to insert the change key with the lock case cover removed. This should only be attempted by a locksmith in Norwich. Before turning the change key make sure the wing of the key is fully inserted into the lock.

Changing The Combination

Select three new numbers. For technical reasons, we strongly recommend you DO NOT use any number between 95 and 20 for the last number. For maximum security, try not to use numbers that end in 0 or 5, and do not use numbers in sequence such as 35-36-37. Also 27-48-56 is not as good as 56-27-48
Locksmith In Norwich
1. Dial the existing combination on the opening index (see steps 1-2-3 above or directions for opening when on factory setting). Open door of container and throw the bolts using the handle.
2. Dial the existing combination again, this time to the changing index. Only use steps 1-2-3 in other words, do not turn the lock as if you were going to open the safe.
3. With the last number set at the changing index, hold the dial securely and insert the change key in the keyhole in the back of the lock. Make sure the wing is entirely inside the lock and comes to a positive stop (see picture above) before turning the key.
4. Turn the key one-quarter turn to the LEFT (see picture above). With the change key in this position, set the new combination as follows: turn the dial to the LEFT, stopping when the first number of the new combination aligns with the changing index the FOURTH time.
5. Turn dial to the RIGHT stopping when the second number is aligned with the changing index, the THIRD time.
6. Turn the dial to the LEFT, stopping when the third number is aligned with the changing index, the SECOND time. Holding the dial in this position, turn the change key back to the RIGHT and remove it. (See Figure 2). The new combination you have chosen is now set in the lock.
CAUTION: BEFORE CLOSING THE UNIT try the new combination several times using your new combination or you may need to call a locksmith in Norwich
